They are very interesting. I prefer the second one - I guess because of the little bokeh and the light beams showing. These give some context to the object. Just my 2p, :-)

I agree with you, the second one is better done. I do like though the landscape orientation and the angle that is formed at the centre (top) of the first one. Unfortunately the sun was moving very fast (or I was very slow! :D) to replicate it in the second one.
BTW, I'm impressed by the quantity of pictures you upload in your blog with the respective quotes maintaining always an high standard for quality, it's very very good!

Generally I prefer the landscape format too - I do not do any other format, ;-).
